Description:

This is the second of a two part presentation, the other session being held on April 16, 2026. You can register for one or both events, each requires it’s own registration.

This course introduces Building Designers and other Professionals within the Construction Industry to the foundational principles of designing with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) while demystifying their use within the built environment. Participants will gain a high-level understanding of ICF systems, including their benefits, applications, and design considerations, with a focus on the three core principles of design-ability, permit-ability, and construct-ability. The course provides an overview of how ICF impacts design workflows, from simplifying building assemblies to drafting considerations, and offers guidance on accessing key resources for successful implementation. By the end of the session, attendees will be equipped to confidently integrate ICF into their projects and collaborate effectively with contractors and stakeholders.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand ICF Fundamentals: Explain the core principles, components, and benefits of Insulated Concrete Forms in building design.

  2. Evaluate ICF Applications: Identify appropriate use cases for ICF in residential, commercial, and institutional projects.

  3. Navigate ICF Design Principles: Apply the three principles of design-ability, permit-ability, and construct-ability to ICF integration in design workflows.

  4. Access ICF Resources: Identify key resources and tools to support drafting considerations and collaboration with contractors and stakeholders..
