Cascadia Windows and Doors is an industry leader in Building Envelope product innovation and manufacturing.  Cascadia Windows have developed some of the key cutting edge technologies that have enabled Builders and Designers access to cost effective product solutions to meet increasing stringent Energy Codes and Passive House Standards.  Some examples of the key technologies developed by Cascadia include: the first passive house certified windows and doors ever designed in North America, the first fiberglass thermal spacer ever designed for exterior insulated walls, and the first fiberglass windowwall system in the world. 

 Cascadia has customized an educational presentation specifically for the BCABD.  It is mainly focused on Part 9 Construction in BC.  This presentation covers the following key industry topics:

  • An Active Approach to Passive House Windows – 1hr

  • The BC Energy Step Code basics & solutions – 10 minutes

  • The BC Carbon Step Code Basics – 10 minutes

  • Fiberglass Thermal Spacers for Exterior Insulated Walls – 10 minutes

  • Question and Answer Period and intro to the Cascadia Team – 10 minutes

 The presentation provides insight on how to cost effectively select materials and assemblies that have the biggest impact on achieving the targeted energy requirements.  Michael Bousfield, the presenter, has instructed various relevant courses at BCIT.  At BCIT Michael has instructed the Passive House tradesman course (window module), the Building Envelope Solutions course, and Materials and Methods 2 course.
