NET-ZERO, PASSIVE HOUSE, AND EMBODIED CARBON TRAINING FOR DESIGNERS
Learn about design and construction strategies for high performance buildings, efficient mechanical and electrical systems focused on wood-frame buildings with the Essentials Net-Zero and Passive House Construction microcredential. With this microcredential, you will:
◼ Understand how to design building enclosures to achieve airtightness and enclosure (low-TEDI) performance of the BC Energy Step Code and Net Zero Energy and Passive House standards
◼ Recognize the unique considerations for electrical (solar PV, energy storage, EV charging) and mechanical systems when designing Net-Zero Energy or Passive House projects
◼ Use strategies to evaluate costs and make design decisions for Net Zero Energy and Passive House buildings, including both operational and embodied carbon.

Learn about life cycle thinking, embodied carbon, and life cycle assessment (LCA) standards and methods for conducting a whole-building LCA and reducing embodied carbon impacts with the Whole-Building Life Cycle Assessment Professional microcredential. With this microcredential, you will have:
◼ Advanced knowledge and skills in whole-building LCA, including a solid foundation in LCA standards, method, and data.
◼ Experience conducting whole-building LCA using Athena LCA software.
◼ Practice interpreting results, assessing uncertainty and limitations, making fair comparisons, and creating embodied carbon reports.
